Journey Post 1

Post 1.  I’ve been composing since grade school.  My sister brought home “Meet the Beatles”, and my mom’s hopes that I’d follow in her foot steps and become a classical concert pianist (some irony there, as that is what her parents wanted for her and she much more gravitated to the theater), went out the window.

What I find somewhat mysterious and intriguing, is how after many years I stumbled on to The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, and while working through that book, came on to this realization that I was in place where I could focus on being what I think I am at my core, a composer.  Why I am here.  How in some regards this has been in front of me since childhood, but it never occurred to me to embrace it.  It was never part of our family modeling.
